Carl blogs here on taxes on rubbish that are being proposed. I have mixed feelings about this. I guess that for people who persistantly and unrepentantly offend this will provide a good money based way of hitting them hard. Although I believe this will usually be working classes who perhaps don't buy into the concept. I also wonder how this conflicting message of "buy less, re-use more" marries up with a capitalist economy because surely if one is promoted, it is at the detriment of the other. I don't have a problem with falling sales but share holders (and the government) will.
